I am Ridhima Pandey, a young environmental activist from India,
passionate about combating climate change. Born in 2007 in
Uttarakhand, I've been deeply influenced by my surroundings and
the environmental challenges my community faces. I started my
journey after witnessing the devastating effects of the kedarnath
flash floods that occurred in my home state Uttarakhand in 2013.
At the age of nine, I filed a petition against the Indian
government, challenging their insufficient action on climate
change, which I believe violates my rights and those of future
generations.
In 2019, I joined 15 other youth activists, including Greta
Thunberg, in filing a complaint with the United Nations against
five countries for their inaction on climate change. My mission is
to raise awareness about environmental issues and push for
stronger, immediate actions to protect our planet. Through my
advocacy, I strive to inspire others to join the fight for a
sustainable and equitable future for all.
